“We shouldn’t teach great books; We should teach a love for reading.”
Keeping in mind the value and uniqueness of reading associated with the joy and excitement that is contained in books, students of class IV Daisy under the guidance of Ms. Payal Khera participated enthusiastically in the assembly on 6th December, 2017 “Reading is a good habit”. The assembly started off with ‘Sarva Dharam Prarthana’ and English prayer. An inspiring thought was shared followed by vocabulary enrichment and news headlines to update us with what is happening all around. To emphasize upon the fact that books can be our best friends, a short enactment was presented to convey the message which caught the attention of the audience. The play showcased a family who enjoyed reading together every day and how they motivated the others to do the same. The act was enjoyed by all and at the same time, it helped the students understand how a book can be a special friend. Short poems were presented by the children reiterating the importance of reading. Students also reflected on the festival – Milad-Ul-Nabi, and also narrated the significance on World’s AIDS Day and World Disability Day. It was a sincere effort to sensitise the students about the differently abled. The assembly concluded with a reflection and inspiring words of IB Coordinator Ms. Malavika Yadav.
